Job summary

AWC is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design low-voltage MCC lineups and enclosed VFD panels for a new UL-listed manufacturing program. You will generate one-line diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and layouts, ensuring designs meet UL 845, UL 508A and NEC requirements.

You’ll spend time on design, supporting customers and sales on proposals, and collaborating with the fabrication and test teams to drive on-time, first-pass assembly on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
• 3+ years designing low-voltage power distribution or motor control equipment
• Experience with EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical
• Ability to read and interpret industrial electrical specifications, one-line diagrams and control schematics
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, including Articles 409 and 430
• Clear communication with customers, sales and manufacturing, and willingness to spend time on the shop floor

Responsibilities

• Design complete low-voltage MCC lineups and enclosed VFD panels per customer specifications
• Produce one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs and nameplate schedules
• Develop standard MCC bucket designs and enclosed VFD configurations to shorten lead times
• Select and apply circuit breakers, motor starters, overload relays, VFDs, soft starters, and transformers
• Ensure designs comply with UL 845, UL 508A and the NEC
• Review customer specs and diagrams for proposals and clarify exceptions
• Support sales on engineered-to-order work and join customer calls on larger projects
• Assist fabrication and test technicians during assembly, testing and FAT
• Collaborate with EPLAN Standards Engineer to build templates and data
