Job summary

Centrus Energy is seeking a proactive Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth, NH. The role involves designing, sizing, and commissioning power-distribution and motor-control equipment for process-control applications, with hands-on exposure to industrial control panels, MCCs, and low-voltage systems under 1000 V.

Work closely with senior engineers, develop single-line diagrams, BOMs, and protective relay settings; ensure UL 508A compliance, participate in FAT, and support

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician, junior designer, or similar role.
• Familiarity with industrial control panels, MCCs, and low-voltage power distribution (under 1000 V).
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and electrical analysis software (ETAP, EasyPower) is a plus.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design & Layout: Support the design and layout of MCCs, switchboards, and panelboards for facility power systems.
• Documentation & Schematics: Create and update single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interlock logic, and BOMs.
• Equipment Selection: Assist in specifying and selecting contactors, drives, transformers, UPS systems, and grounding components.
• Engineering Analysis: Perform load checks, short-circuit inputs, and basic electrical calculations under senior guidance using ETAP or EasyPower.
• Protection & Control: Help develop protective relay settings and interlock logic for LV/MV systems.
• Compliance & Testing: Create panel layouts, witness FAT, and support field commissioning and testing.
• Safety & Standards: Ensure work adheres to safety codes, standards, and site procedures; participate in hazard analyses.
• Reporting: Produce technical reports and project progress updates for stakeholders.
• Adaptability: Perform additional related tasks to support project success.
