Qualifications

Job description

Company Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer II to join our Renewable Energy Department of our Electrical Design Group located in Charlotte, NC. This group focuses on power generation and renewable energy projects nationwide, including solar farms and battery storage projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting Project Managers and staff in the design of power generation and renewable energy projects
  • Assisting with power plant and switchyard electrical system upgrades
  • Producing electrical engineering designs under supervision
  • Providing input on design issues based on calculations and engineering solutions
  • Applying analytical and problem-solving skills to routine and complex tasks
  • Contributing to engineering service proposals, including time and cost estimations
  • Participating in budget development

Skills and Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
  • Six (6) or more years of professional electrical experience preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of relay coordination and schematic design experience
  • Experience in detailed design engineering or owner’s engineering in generating facilities or substations is preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred
  • Experience leading engineering teams is a plus
  • Proficiency with ETAP or SKM software
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and responsible
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
