Job summary

WEG Transformers USA in Missouri seeks an electrical design engineer to lead quoting and design for 3-phase distribution/power transformers up to 230kV. You will solve technical challenges, support customers, and collaborate with engineering, production, and sales to deliver reliable power solutions.

A BS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of transformer experience are required; SAP and AutoCAD experience preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of transformer design experience.
• Strong math, verbal and written communication; basic English.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, production and customer teams.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• U.S. work authorization and adherence to ethics & values.

Responsibilities

• Design 3-phase distribution and/or power transformers up to 230 kV.
• Verify performance under short circuit, overvoltage, and thermal conditions.
• Interpret customer specifications and define Transformer requirements.
• Create and submit customer drawings, shop drawings, and manufacturing instructions.
• Develop test protocols and review factory test reports.
• Respond to customer inquiries with techno-commercial solutions.

Your Role: Electrical Design Engineer

We need a transformer-savvy electrical engineer to join our U.S. Power Transformers team in Washington, MO. You will lead quoting and design efforts for 3-phase distribution and/or power transformers rated up to 230kV. You will solve complex technical challenges, support customers, and improve product quality through hands‑on engineering and collaboration.

What You’ll Do

• Design 3-phase, 50/60 Hz distribution and/or power transformers with ratings of up to 230kV
• Verify transformer performance under short circuit, overvoltage, and thermal conditions
• Interpret customer specifications and define accurate transformer requirements
• Create and submit customer drawings, shop drawings, and manufacturing instructions
• Develop test protocols and review factory test reports
• Respond to customer inquiries and deliver techno-commercial solutions

Requirements

Basic:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• Ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values. (WEG Code of Ethics, 4th Edition)
• 3 + Years of experience and strong knowledge and experience with engineering principles and procedures.
• Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate in basic English;
• Demonstrated examples of taking initiative, identifying new methods and approaches, and challenging current methods of working;
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks;Experience using standard office productivity software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
• Must complete: application, talent assessment, job interview, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Have current work authorization for employment in the United States.

Preferred:

• Prior experience in distribution or power transformer industry
• Proficiency using AutoCAD
• Experience with SAP
• Experience analyzing and troubleshooting power quality;
• Experience analyzing system designs;
• Resides or plans to reside within reasonable commuting distance;
