Workplace: Remote US (10%-20% Travel)
Salary: Up to $200,000 base + bonus + benefits
We're partnering with a specialist engineering consultancy to find a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of complex electrical infrastructure for mission-critical data-centre projects.
You'll take technical ownership of critical power systems in high-availability environments, working across power distribution, backup generation and resilient infrastructure. You'll lead designs from concept through construction and commissioning, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, efficient and scalable solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead electrical design on mission-critical data-centre projects, from concept and detailed design through construction and commissioning.
- Develop and review designs for medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Produce and review engineering calculations, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, equipment schedules and construction documentation.
- Oversee relevant power-system studies, including short-circuit analysis, protection coordination and arc-flash assessments, applying resilient design principles such as N+1 and 2N redundancy.
- Coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines, clients, engineers of record and contractors to resolve technical challenges and maintain design quality.
- Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers, review deliverables and support construction-stage activities, including RFIs, site inspections and commissioning.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 5-10yrs years of electrical design experience within an architecture and engineering (A/E) consultancy or comparable design environment.
- Several years design experience with AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of critical power infrastructure, medium- and low-voltage distribution, backup generation and resilient electrical design.
- Experience with power-system analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP or equivalent, alongside proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination.
