A reputable building engineering firm in Central New Jersey is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer. The successful candidate will assist in the design and specifications for electrical systems, focusing on power and lighting designs while collaborating with a close-knit team of senior engineers. Summary - Electrical Design Engineer
Job Duties:
- Assist in preparing design drawings and specifications for all elements of building electrical system design, with a significant focus on electrical power and lighting design.
- Most work will consist of 120/208V and 277/480V three phase power systems, and will involve designing power distribution and circuiting for commercial, educational, institutional and/or multi-family residential facilities.
- Assisting in field surveys of existing conditions
- Performing load calculations
- Detailed CAD and REVIT drafting
- Design and specification of appropriate equipment and systems (under the supervision of senior staff)
- Working with a team of mechanical and plumbing/fire protection engineers to provide a coordinated and complete design.
- Providing construction administration services, such as submittal and shop drawings reviews and construction observation surveys, for projects in construction.

Successful candidates will work closely with talented senior designers and engineers in a close mentor/mentee environment. Entry Level electrical engineers will be taught how to read and interpret the National Electrical Code, develop and perform building load calculations, design principles for circuiting of lighting, receptacles and equipment in the building and gain an understanding of how buildings are designed, are constructed, and how they work.
Requirements -
-Bachelor"s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (concentration in electrical design)
-3+ years of relevant professional experience in electrical building design
-Experience with AutoCAD is required
-Experience with Revit preferred
-Experience in following project types: education, civic/government, financial services, retail, office, interior renovation, high tech/R&D, mission critical/data centers, and healthcare
-Knowledge of the LEED certification process (LEED Accreditation is a plus)
-Strong written and verbal communication skills required
-Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) required.
-Passion for sustainability
-Creativity and a passion for problem-solving and critical thinking
-Ability to collaborate in a team setting
-US Driver"s license is required
-Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access job site areas that are relevant to each client
project.
Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000/year
