Job summary

McKim & Creed seeks an Electrical Engineering Designer to join the BEI group in Pittsburgh. You will provide technical and design services for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and voice/data systems across healthcare, education, government, and commercial facilities.

You will generate drawings in REVIT/AutoCAD, observe construction progress, and prepare computations and reports under supervision, ensuring tasks stay within budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Electrical focus).
• 2+ years of experience on facilities similar to those described.
• Process-oriented with strong organization, technical and communication skills.
• Solid communicator, able to take directives from Project Manager and coordinate with design team.
• Able to work in a team or independently with flexibility to meet project demand.
• 2+ years of Autodesk REVIT experience; knowledge of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team on BEI projects, supporting power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and voice/data systems.
• Generate electrical design/construction drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Observe electrical construction progress on projects with significant involvement.
• Prepare design computations, assessments, evaluations, and technical reports under guidance of a Senior Engineer.
• Complete assigned design tasks within budget and on schedule.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Senior Electrical Engineer and design team to complete work efficiently.
• Report to the Senior Engineer.

OVERVIEW: We have an exciting opportunity to join our Building, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Group at our new office location in Pittsburgh for an Electrical Engineering Designer. The Engineering Designer provides technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team on projects in the Buildings, Energy, and Infrastructure group, in support of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and voice/data systems for facility types including healthcare; K-12 and higher education; institutional facilities; federal, state and local government; and other commercial/industrial facilities.

DURING YOUR WORK-DAY YOU WILL

• :Provide technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team on projects in the Buildings, Energy, and Infrastructure group, in support of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and voice/data systems for facility types including healthcare; K-12 and higher education; institutional facilities; federal, state and local government; and other commercial/industrial facilities
• .Generates electrical design/construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD software
• .Observes electrical construction progress on projects in which they had significant involvement
• .Prepares design computations and assessments, performs technical evaluations, and prepares technical reports and correspondence under the guidance of a more-senior engineer
• .Responsible for completing assigned design tasks within budget and on schedule
• .Communicates and coordinates with the Project Manager, Sr. Electrical Engineer and other design team members to complete work efficiently
• .Reports directly to their Senior Engineer

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering with electrical focus, from an ABET-accredited universit
• y.2+ years of documented applicable experience working on facilities similar to those described abov
• e.Process-oriented individual with strong organization, technical and communication skill
• s.Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from Project Manager and Electrical lead and coordinate efforts with design tea
• m.Enjoys working alone when required but can work effectively on a project tea
• m.Able to complete work consistently with flexibility to accommodate varying project demand
• s.Must maintain a high level of precision and accuracy and be methodical in approach to wor
• k.2+ years of Autodesk REVIT experience gained in a similar design-related fiel
• d.Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software, as well as Bluebea
• m.Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) commensurate with their years of experienc
• e.High technical aptitude, interested in technology and staying current in their fie
• ldAbility to climb ladders and perform field survey dutie
• s.Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal recor
