Job description

Vaco is working with a longstanding client in the power industry to find an Electrical Design Engineer. This new position is due to company growth in the dynamic power generation sector.

Requirements

• Lead design reviews with the engineering team to ensure designs meet client requirements, standards, and quality.
• Create and refine technical schematics and diagrams to capture design intent for manufacturing.
• Develop circuit designs based on customer input and operational requirements.
• Maintain technical documents such as BOMs, manuals, test plans, and specifications.
• Perform root cause and testing activities as needed.
• Provide technical support to customers, assemblers, and integrators.
• Research and analyze customer proposals and data to evaluate feasibility and costs.
• Specify system components or modify products to meet specifications.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, production, and customers to maintain schedules.
• Manage project requirements and specifications across multiple projects.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve design issues.
• Support procurement with necessary documentation and specifications.
• Assign shelf life to applicable components.
• Troubleshoot test failures and product issues.
• Review test data to verify acceptance criteria are met.
• Conduct audits at subcontractor/customer facilities when required.
• Create component and assembly equivalency evaluations.
• Assist sales in quoting and find replacements for obsolete components.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical design engineering, including design, risk mitigation, testing, and project management.
• Experience with failure analysis methodologies.
• Proficiency with electrical schematic software.
• Knowledge of NFPA-70 NEC requirements.
• Power industry experience is a plus.
• Experience in circuit board design is preferred.
• Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time.
