Job Description

Position is located in the Brainerd Lakes Area. No remote work is available; must be in person.

POSITION SCOPE: An Electrical Design Engineer in the Machinery Division is responsible for managing and performing tasks related to electrical design and fabrication of packaging machinery.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage complete electrical projects, including scheduling, planning, programming, machine power-up, testing, debugging, shipment, and change orders.
• Design control systems for manufacturing equipment, including control panel engineering, PLC, Servo, and HMI programming, and support for start-up.
• Apply analytical and problem-solving skills in design, programming, and troubleshooting of control systems.
• Communicate effectively with management, clients, and vendors.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to determine control features and develop solutions.
• Develop project documentation, electrical schematics, and program files for customized machines.
• Coordinate multiple projects to ensure timely completion.
• Prioritize resources, delegate tasks, and track project progress.
• Assist with customer check-outs and resolve technical queries, interacting with plant managers and international operations.
• Work with manufacturing, service, and customers to resolve machine problems.
• Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• BSEE, BSEET, or related degree in Automation/Controls.
• Experience with high-speed automation, especially in beverage or consumer products packaging machinery, or similar industries.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens Servos, PLCs, HMIs, control panel design, and industrial communication networks (Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus).
• Experience with Beckhoff EtherCAT is a plus.
• 5-7 years of engineering experience with PLC, Servo, HMI automation, and project management.

Ability to organize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
