Job description

We are actively seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and quality review of electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for commercial buildings while managing engineering projects and providing technical oversight of electrical design activities.

This is a full time, onsite position in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for commercial building projects.
• Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and related electrical systems.
• Prepare electrical drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and circuit sizing.
• Review electrical designs for accuracy, quality, and code compliance.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architects and other engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and design changes.
• Support construction activities and resolve electrical design issues.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Experience designing electrical systems for commercial buildings within an MEP consulting environment.
• Experience with power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and applicable building codes.
• Experience performing electrical design reviews and QA/QC.
• Ability to manage projects, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Experience coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing telecommunications, data communications, and low-voltage systems.
• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
• Experience with Revit/BIM coordination.
• Experience with construction administration, RFIs, and contractor submittals.
