Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Automation Engineer to lead the integration, extension, and automation of Siemens Capital and related toolchains. You will architect plugins, APIs, and AI-enabled workflows that improve design quality and accelerate release from requirements to manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems, Mechanical, Automotive, or related engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, harness engineering, engineering software, design automation, or systems integration.
• Experience developing software, scripts, plugins, APIs, or automated engineering workflows.
• Experience with Siemens Capital or a comparable ECAD/PLM platform.
• Proficiency in Python, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, VBA, or a comparable language.
• Experience with JSON, XML, SQL, REST APIs, file-based interfaces, data mapping, or message-based communication.
• Ability to understand electrical connectivity, engineering models, and downstream manufacturing requirements.
• Ability to lead technical work, communicate across functions, and deliver maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect integrations across Capital toolchain components and adjacent systems.
• Define data models, interfaces, mappings, and transformation rules across representations.
• Evaluate Capital capabilities and propose configuration or custom solutions.
• Build plugins, APIs, and automation for design workflows.
• Automate model creation, validation, and release preparation.
• Apply software engineering practices: versioning, testing, logging, and CI/CD.
• Develop AI agents and AI-enabled tools for PSDS within VSEE.
