Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Level 1 Estimator in Tysons, VA to assist senior estimators with bid proposals for electrical and low voltage systems. You will perform take-offs, price changes, and site visits to understand constructability and meet project requirements.

The role calls for familiarity with electrical plans and contract documents, plus the ability to gather pricing from vendors and subcontractors. Background checks are required, with BIM/Accubid knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) required.
• Associate's Degree with 4+ years of experience.
• High school diploma or GED with 6+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
• Perform take-offs from drawings; pricing change orders and conduct site visits to understand constructability.
• Understand plans and specifications to identify materials and equipment needs and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Apply cost fundamentals; maintain current price information from supplies and contractors.
• Prepare bid packages and obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
• Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specifications.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints; familiarity with contract documents.
• Knowledge of design techniques for electrical plans and drawings.
• Develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
• Generate high quality work and collaborate with others to reach common goals.
• Must pass a background check.
• Knowledge of Accubid a plus; BIM a plus.
