Job summary

Abbott in Columbus, Ohio is hiring an Electrical Controls Technician in the Maintenance Department. The role focuses on keeping plant electrical and mechanical systems safe and reliable, with strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading packaging and filling-line equipment.

You will work a 12-hour night shift with rotating onsite days, performing emergency repairs as needed and adhering to NEC guidelines and GMP procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years electrician/controls experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with PLCs and VFDs in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and troubleshoot high-speed equipment and plant utilities; adjust machines like case packers and palletizers for proper operation.
• Conduct Preventative Maintenance to ensure reliable operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair/replace VFDs, vision systems, barcode printers, and control systems.
• Install components including seals, bearings, belts, gears, cylinders, and other fittings.
