Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer in Whitehall, MI to design, implement, and maintain industrial control systems and electrical distribution. You will manage PLC/HMI/SCADA projects, collaborate across maintenance and operations, and continuously improve reliability and safety in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• US work authorization without sponsorship now or in future.
• Solid knowledge of industrial electrical systems and automation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in control environments.
• Ability to apply systems-thinking to complex interactions.
• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
• Data-driven approach to problem solving and decision making.
• Effective communication across engineering, operations, and maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, troubleshoot, and support PLC/HMI/SCADA and electrical distribution systems.
• Develop automation solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Lead concepts through implementation including design, cost estimation, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and maintenance for capital projects.
• Provide technical support to ensure stable plant operation.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications for process visibility.
• Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and maximize production.
• Support equipment upgrades and modernization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79 and safety standards.
• Create accurate documentation, drawings, specs, and project records.
