Job summary

First Call – The Direct Hire Division is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity in Wisconsin. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and improving PLC/HMI controls, testing, and production equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

You will work hands-on with production and test equipment, develop interfaces to SQL databases, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement capital equipment and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Four+ years of Controls Engineering and/or Test Engineering experience.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley controls and software (RSLogix, Studio 5000).
• Experience with FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
• Ability to modify and troubleshoot PLC programs.
• Understanding of safety systems design and electrical safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Program, modify, troubleshoot, and support PLC/HMI systems for production and test equipment.
• Support controls and electrical systems throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Develop and maintain testing protocols, test equipment specs, data collection programs, and best practices.
• Support design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Develop interfaces between SQL databases and production systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform root-cause/failure analysis.
• Ensure electrical systems comply with safety standards and OSHA requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering, quality and suppliers.
• Support capital equipment selection and implementation for new products and process improvements.
• Participate in cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to solve manufacturing problems.
• Support projects involving upgrades, controls technology, and factory-floor test systems.
