Job summary

The Kinetic Group in Lewiston, Idaho is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support automated manufacturing controls. You will program PLCs, develop HMIs, and guide automation projects across equipment and processes.

Collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, and IT will be key to delivering scalable solutions. Responsibilities include capital project participation, equipment troubleshooting, and creating documentation.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree (AAS) in a related technical discipline with 4-10 years of relevant controls/automation experience.
Journeyman Electrician license with 4-10 years of relevant industrial controls experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, apprenticeship experience, licensure, military experience, certifications, and directly related controls/automation experience will be considered.
Foundational understanding of PLC programming, HMIs, electrical schematics, and industrial control systems.
Strong troubleshooting aptitude and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

Support the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems.
Design, program, troubleshoot, and commission PLC-based control systems using platforms such as Allen-Bradley or Omron.
Develop and maintain HMI and operator interface systems to improve equipment usability.
Lead automation projects involving robotics, vision systems, servo motion, and process controls.
Create and maintain electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, and systems within manufacturing.
Participate in capital projects from concept to startup and validation.
Troubleshoot issues using root cause analysis.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, quality and IT teams.
Support integration of machine data into manufacturing and business systems.
Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and machine safety standards.
Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials.
Provide mentorship to team members as needed.
