Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for the Portland Metro region, based in Sherwood, OR. The role focuses primarily on PLC programming (about 70%) and electrical engineering tasks (about 30%), including startup, commissioning, and system integration for robotics, machine vision, and automation equipment.

You will design, test, and optimize control panels, wiring, and schematics, while mentoring and growing into a broader automation engineering leadership role. Travel is minimal.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent with 5+ years in electrical/controls engineering.
• Experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Allen-Bradley PLC platforms.
• HMI development and PLC integration experience with automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Program, modify, and debug PLC-based control systems for automation equipment.
• Develop new PLC programs from scratch and update existing ones.
• Configure I/O, tune control logic, and commission automation equipment.
