Job Summary

Documents and implements system PLC, HMI, and Motion Control changes. Designs new or modifies existing systems and machines. Provides controls and electrical engineering support for all system users and manufacturing team. Performs R&D functions to support machine development.

Responsibilities

• 50% - Design, modify, test, and troubleshoot new and existing systems including HMI and PLC software and electrical layout and documentation.
• 25% - Document and develop new applications from the beginning of the development lifecycle through implementation.
• 20% - Assist internal and external customers with operational support.
• 5% - Create documentation of existing systems.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations

Skills

• Solid understanding of PLCs, including Allen Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000) and Beckhoff/Codesys.
• Solid knowledge of HMI and SCADA design; C#/WPF experience is a plus.
• Good understanding of electrical CAD design; Autocad preferred. PCB design experience is a plus.
• Good understanding of servo motion control.
• Experience creating:
• HMI applications from conception to implementation
• PLC logic from conception to implementation
• CAD schematics from conception to implementation
• Knowledge or experience with:
• IEC 61131-3 languages, specifically Structured Text and Ladder Logic
• Version Control Systems, including Git or SVN
• Object-Oriented Programming principles
• Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and technologies.
• End-user and manufacturing support.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, staff, management, etc.
• Superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously.
• Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
• Ability to shift priorities frequently and perform effectively under pressure.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Limited travel may be required (approximately 0-15% in any given month).

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university and 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in HMI, PLC, and Motion Control programming. Candidates with experience in CAD and Structured Text are preferred.
