Job Summary

Documents and implements system PLC, HMI and Motion Control changes. Designs new or modifies existing systems and machines. Provides controls and electrical engineering support for all system users and manufacturing team. Performs R&D functions to support machine development.

Responsibilities

1. Design, modify, test and troubleshoot new and existing systems including HMI and PLC software and electrical layout and documentation.
2. Document and develop new applications from the beginning of the development lifecycle through implementation.
3. Assist internal and external customers with operational support.
4. Create documentation of existing systems.
5. Perform other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations.

Skills

• Solid understanding of PLCs, including Allen Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000) and Beckhoff/Codesys.
• Solid knowledge of HMI and SCADA design, C#/WPF experience a plus.
• Good understanding of electrical CAD design, Autocad preferred. PCB design experience a plus.
• Good understanding of servo motion control.
• Experience creating:
• HMI applications from conception to implementation.
• PLC logic from conception to implementation.
• CAD schematics from conception to implementation.
• Knowledge or experience with:
• IEC 61131-3 languages, specifically Structured text and Ladder Logic.
• Version Control Systems, including Git or SVN.
• Object Oriented Programming principles.
• Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and technologies.
• End user and manufacturing support.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, staff, management, etc.
• Superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
• Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
• Ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressure.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Limited travel may be required (approximately 0-15% in any given month).

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors’ degree from a 4-year college or university and 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in HMI, PLC, and Motion Control programming. Candidates with experience in CAD and Structured Text are preferred.
