About the Role
Our client, a premier provider of custom mechanization for iconic structures and world-class attractions, is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to play a strategic, high-impact role across complex engineering projects.
This position leads electrical design and provides expert technical guidance from concept through commissioning - including planning, design, programming, testing, and onsite integration. You’ll work cross-functionally with mechanical, structural, and electrical teams to deliver one-of-a-kind engineering solutions across industries such as aerospace, amusement, stadiums, observatories, and custom large-scale structures.
What You’ll Do
- Drive concept development and engineering design of electrical control systems
- Implement Ethernet and industrial LAN networks for robust system communication
- Oversee field installation support and lead project commissioning activities
- Conduct design reviews with architects, contractors, and engineering partners
- Develop, execute, and supervise prototype testing, debugging, and validation
- Visit vendor/manufacturing sites to inspect and test components before shipment
- Partner with purchasing and field teams to specify and procure components
- Stay current on advanced controls technology, hardware, and software
- Provide technical expertise supporting sales, proposals, and marketing needs
- Own all phases of design-build: design, production, installation, and commissioning

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience with a B.S. (or 3+ years with an M.S.) in Electrical, Controls, Systems, or Computer Engineering
- Strong experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, motor controllers
- High proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 hardware & software
- Ability to read schematics and produce detailed design documentation
- Deep understanding of control system architecture & functional safety
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Strong control system programming experience and documentation skillsExpertise with 3-phase motors, control methods, sensors, and measurement loops
- Experience managing risk in custom, unprecedented engineering environments
- Analytical problem-solver with creativity and engineering rigor
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines
Preferred Skills
- M.S. in Electrical, Controls, Systems, or Computer Engineering
- Experience with Siemens controls hardware/software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ePlan, or similar drafting tools
