Position Description
An Electrical & Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, submitting, implementing, and supporting electrical and control systems across all Arizon Companies products. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, high technical engineering ability—especially in DDC/PLC controls engineering and programming—along with a background in engineering, PLC programming, mechanical aptitude, and excellent organization and visualization skills.
Functions And Responsibilities
- Review technical specifications, project documents, and plans to provide accurate material and labor cost estimates to the Sales Engineering (SE) Team.
- Develop electrical submittals supporting the Application Engineering (AE) Team.
- Develop and implement standard or custom HVAC control sequences according to manufacturer recommendations, Arizon Companies standards, and customer requirements using structured text and function block programming.
- Create documentation supporting controls programs.
- Supervise outside control contractors as needed, assist in controls implementation on the production floor, and during factory witness testing.
- Travel may be required for large projects or presentations, estimated at 1 week per quarter.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Factory Representatives, Engineers, Production Teams, and other contacts.
- Manage workload to meet customer deadlines, aiming for completion of quotes/submittals 1 day prior to request.
- Assist in developing estimating and sales tools, and provide vendor cost updates for estimating programs.
- Participate in order entry or production release meetings as assigned.
- Support parts and warranty inquiries related to unit operation and performance.
Knowledge And Skills
- At least 2 years' experience in HVAC, machine design, or a related industry, or a minimum of 2 years of post-secondary technical education.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Skilled in structured text and function block programming; familiar with ladder logic diagrams.
- Familiarity with Carel controllers is a plus.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to visualize concepts.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
