Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer role is to provide technical expertise and leadership in the design, troubleshooting, and installation of complex industrial finishing, dispensing, and automation systems. Responsible for designing electrical drawings, specifying components, software programming, training, and team development.
Principal Job Duties:
- Design and develop electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Apply relevant codes such as NEC, CSA, NFPA to electrical circuit design.
- Manage electrical and control aspects of projects, collaborating with operations, mechanical engineering, and project management.
- Work with electrical/controls and mechanical engineers on project design and commissioning.
- Interpret customer specifications and apply them within electrical/control design, adhering to codes.
- Specify electrical/control components to meet customer needs.
- Assist in software development, including PLC, HMI, Servo Control programming.
- Write PLC code from scratch.
- Develop HMI interfaces.
- Program control components like servo drives, safety scanners, vision cameras.
- Support robotic system integration, focusing on finishing and dispensing applications.
- Experience with Fanuc, ABB, Motoman, Kuka robots.
- Path and sequence programming, robot I/O programming.
- Robot communication and PLC safety interlocks.
- Conduct I/O checks, system startup, and commissioning at customer sites.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Learn new control technologies.
- Assist sales in developing project bids related to electrical/control components.
- Guide project design, installation, and startup.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and project leaders.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Ensure quality standards throughout project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Technical college degree + 10+ years in industrial automation or relevant experience.
- Experience in machine vision required.
- Preferred: Rockwell Software, Robot Programming, Safety Systems Programming experience.
- Willingness to travel approx. 30%.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Industry knowledge and awareness of trends and regulations.
- Strong technical, mechanical, and customer problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with moving parts, fumes, chemicals, and electrical equipment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk, climb, stand, carry up to 50 lbs, and perform related physical activities.
