About the Role
A leading engineering firm based in the Cleveland, Ohio area is seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join their team. In this position, you will manage the full lifecycle of industrial electrical control systems, including the installation, programming, start-up, repair, and troubleshooting of complex PLC and HMI machine controls.
Core Responsibilities
- Field Execution & Service: Evaluate on-site engineering obstacles to identify root causes, perform precise repairs, and offer expert guidance to help improve overall machinery efficiency.
- Programming & Controls: Configure, test, and program SCADA platforms, HMIs, and Programmable Logic Controllers to ensure seamless operation.
- Client Consultation: Partner with clients to determine technical needs, select high-quality electrical components, and design effective control loops.
- System Integration: Manage the end-to-end installation, wiring verification, and system start-up process to ensure equipment functions reliably for the end user.
- System Design (Plus): Create detailed electrical schematics and control loops to support the development of new automated systems.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEE/BSEET), or equivalent professional experience as an Industrial Controls Technician.
- Technical Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of automated industrial systems, specifically regarding HMI, PLC, variable speed motor controls, and VFDs.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written abilities to facilitate clear collaboration between internal engineering teams and external corporate partners.
- Component Selection: Demonstrated ability to evaluate machinery specifications and source the most appropriate electrical control components for the project.
- Travel: Availability for local travel within Ohio, with approximately 10% overnight travel required outside of the state.
