Job summary

In-Finite Search Solutions seeks an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. This hands-on role covers design through installation and startup, requiring strong PLC/HMI programming, electrical design, and test troubleshooting.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of controls experience, a 4-year EE degree, and proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and Rockwell/Siemens controls; travel to customer sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of controls engineering experience.
  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens controls.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control systems, drawings, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop, program, troubleshoot, and debug PLC and HMI systems.
  • Work with Rockwell or Siemens controls to develop reliable automation solutions.
  • Communicate directly with customers to understand project requirements and develop appropriate electrical design solutions.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the panel shop during the electrical panel build and testing process.
  • Travel to customer job sites to support equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and start-up.
  • Coordinate with field personnel and resolve electrical and controls issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting using standard electrical test and measurement equipment.
  • Stay current with advancements in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial controls technologies.
  • Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Pay: $40–$52/hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team. This hands-on Project Engineer role is ideal for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who can take ownership of controls projects from initial design through panel build, installation, and start-up.

The successful candidate will have strong experience with industrial controls, PLC/HMI programming, electrical design, and troubleshooting. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively with customers, engineering teams, panel builders, and field personnel to develop and implement effective electrical control solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical control systems, drawings, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop, program, troubleshoot, and debug PLC and HMI systems.
  • Work with Rockwell or Siemens controls to develop reliable automation solutions.
  • Communicate directly with customers to understand project requirements and develop appropriate electrical design solutions.

  • Ensure control panels are constructed according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Perform testing and troubleshooting using standard electrical test and measurement equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software.
  • Proficiency using electrical testing and measurement equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with engineering and production teams.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on industrial controls experience and be able to contribute immediately. Experience with OEM or robotics-focused environments may not align with the needs of this position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Ignition software.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as VBScript, C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with additional PLC platforms and industrial automation equipment.
  • Experience with electrical control panel design, construction, and commissioning.
