Job summary

Equipment & Controls, Inc. in Lawrence, PA is seeking an Engineering CAD Designer Intern to assist in designing control panels and documenting hardware.

You will work under experienced engineers to learn customer requirements, support design problem resolution and help prepare drawings for panel shop release. The role emphasizes learning AutoCAD-based drafting, I/O, wiring diagrams and DCS/ PLC concepts while collaborating with sales and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, industrial or design-related engineering; relevant coursework or equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
• Basic familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel; interest in PLC or DCS systems is desirable.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn, ask questions, communicate clearly, manage assigned tasks and work effectively on a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with control panel design using AutoCAD and maintain a complete document package.
• Assist with control panel mechanical layout and detail drawings and with electrical wiring diagrams.
• Assist with I/O card termination, I/O loop, electrical schematic, and DCS network architecture drawings.
• Review I/O lists with project team and help develop I/O wiring drawings; support design estimates.
