Job summary

QPS Employment Group in Houston, TX, is seeking anElectrical Control Panel Technician to construct and wire industrial panels based on engineering drawings and project specs. You will interpret schematics, install conductors, and mount electrical devices, ensuring safety and quality throughout assembly.

The role requires 2+ years in electrical assembly or related work, strong reading of electrical drawings, and familiarity with PLCs, drives, and distribution equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience in electrical assembly, panel building, controls manufacturing, or industrial electrical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience using electrical hand tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Knowledge of conduit fabrication, wire routing, and termination practices.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and electrical distribution equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and wire industrial electrical panels and assemblies based on engineering drawings and project specifications.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Install and route conductors, cables, and wiring through panels, enclosures, conduit systems, and support structures.
  • Mount and secure electrical devices including breakers, transformers, drives, relays, terminal blocks, PLC hardware, and control components.
  • Fabricate and install conduit systems using a variety of materials and methods.
  • Perform wire preparation including measuring, cutting, stripping, terminating, labeling, and bundling conductors.
  • Assemble enclosures, mounting plates, subassemblies, and mechanical support components.
  • Apply proper grounding and bonding techniques in accordance with project requirements.
  • Verify wiring accuracy and conduct continuity, functionality, and quality checks prior to final inspection.
  • Install cable management systems, wire duct, supports, and protective routing devices.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to complete assembly activities.
  • Coordinate with quality and production teams to ensure products meet established standards.
  • Maintain accurate identification and labeling of wires, devices, and components.
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning activities at customer locations when required.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive workspace while following company safety procedures.

An established industrial manufacturing organization in Houston, TX (77037) is seeking an experienced Electrical Control Panel Technician to support the assembly, installation, and testing of electrical power and control systems. This role involves working from engineering documentation to build, wire, and verify electrical assemblies while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.

Electrical Control Panel Technician Responsibilities:

Requirements for Electrical Control Panel Technician:

  • Technical school, trade school, or vocational training in electrical technology preferred
  • Forklift certification or material handling experience preferred
  • Experience with power distribution systems, automation equipment, control panels, PLCs, drives, and related industrial equipment preferred
  • Exposure to manufacturing quality systems and inspection processes preferred
