Job summary

Cates Control Systems in Plano, TX is hiring a Testing Technician to verify wiring, labels, fuses and component specs. You will apply voltages, ensure UL/Nec compliance, and document results. Strong schematics reading and PLC basics are essential. This role requires bending, standing, and hands-on panel work in a team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years prior experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Leadership traits and mentoring peers.
• Must read wiring schematics and understand electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of AC-DC circuits and related laws.
• Understanding of NEC and UL508A rules for control panels.
• Experience with PLC hardware basics and ladder logic.
• Experience with motor controls and automation systems.
• Familiar with AC/DC drives and transformers.
• Ability to read sequence of operations for timers and counters.
• Proficient with digital multimeters and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Pull-test all wires to verify a good connection.
• Label all wires correctly and verify fuse ratings.
• Check for wire frays and verify component sizes/voltages.
• Apply voltage and verify components operate correctly.
• Ensure UL compliance via schematic designer when required.
• Place identification and UL stickers on control panels.
• Fill out check sheets and verify quality before shipping.
• Log time spent on each job into Epicor.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and teamwork.
