Job Summary

Johnson College is currently seeking a full‑time instructor for our Electrical Construction Technology program. Do you have a passion for your industry? Are you comfortable speaking in front of a small group? If so, we'd love to have you on board. Prior teaching experience is a plus but not required.

Timing and Schedule

The position starts in the academic year at the end of August and runs from mid‑August to mid‑May, a full‑time teaching commitment.

Responsibilities

The instructor is responsible for course development, delivery, and assessment, as well as supervising the course of study and engaging students through lectures and hands‑on activities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain the course of study by reviewing syllabi, course curriculum, and books.
  • Assist with selection and review of library resources to keep them current.
  • Enforce college policies and procedures with program students.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment within program areas.
  • Submit student book/tool kit/parts information to the lead instructor or department chair.
  • Work with Academics to develop scheduling and transferability of coursework.
  • Provide student advisement and assistance when necessary.
  • Promote the program and assist with procurement of educational resources and equipment.
  • Participate in college committees, activities, and events.
  • Participation in professional organizations.
  • Assist the Continuing Education Department as required.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree required.
  • At least 4 years of experience in electrical construction.
  • Strong communication, teaching, and managerial skills.
  • Expertise in the program area and knowledge of industry standards.
  • Assessment and organizational skills, including proficiency with word‑processing.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Enforce college policies and procedures with all students and within their course of study.

Equipment

Equipment used in the program of study, computers, and associated software.
