Job summary

Kimmel Associates seeks a Project Director – Electrical Construction to lead the electrical execution of large industrial projects across the Southeast. This corporate-based role requires guiding self-perform teams, coordinating with other trades, and managing budgets from estimating through closeout.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years in heavy industrial electrical construction, strong leadership, and a track record in multi-project oversight.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy industrial electrical construction.
• Experience managing self-performed electrical work on large industrial projects.
• Experience leading multiple electrical projects or significant electrical operation.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction means, methods, sequencing, and field execution.
• Experience with budgets, forecasting, scheduling, manpower, productivity, and profitability.
• Exposure to high/medium voltage, substations, switchgear, motor control, instrumentation, SCADA, and plant power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the electrical scope of major industrial/infrastructure projects.
• Oversee electrical execution from estimating and preconstruction through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
• Mentor Electrical Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
• Establish execution strategies, manpower plans, schedules, procurement plans, and productivity targets.
• Own project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and profitability.
• Coordinate electrical work with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, engineering, and procurement teams.
• Review schedules to keep electrical activities aligned with milestones.
• Provide guidance on construction methods, sequencing, and field execution.
• Collaborate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and leadership to resolve issues.
• Identify risks/opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support estimating, proposals, change management, and business development.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and operational standards.
• Contribute to project reviews and reporting on performance, staffing, and finances.
• Help build a strong pipeline of electrical talent and expand self-perform capabilities.
