Electrical Commissioning Lead - Data Centers - Cedar Rapids, IA

Responsibilities
- Lead the overall electrical commissioning process, following organization standards and overseeing multiple commissioning projects for large data center projects. Act as a Commissioning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure commissioning experts follow commissioning standards and a thorough quality management / QC process that validates and documents client systems. Handle technical commissioning issues for data center clients.
- Lead multiple commissioning projects with a full team of commissioning engineers and commissioning project managers on a wide range of Data Center Commissioning projects.
- Initially focus on the technical aspects of projects and serving as a technical resource for commissioning teams; grow into a technical management role with people management in 6-18 months.
- Ensure commissioning standards are followed for: equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); comprehensive commissioning documentation.
- Ensure the overall commissioning process is followed with high standards: commissioning test procedures and reports; commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track projects; comprehensive reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, equipment operation, and maintenance manuals.
- Have the team follow Commissioning Standards: review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other commissioning documentation; integrated system testing; load bank testing; compilation of all testing procedure results; functional tests for building MEP systems (fire alarm and control systems, HVAC, chillers, CRAC units, electrical distribution, UPS, standby generators, emergency lighting, etc.); system assembly; commissioning plan preparation; follow company QC processes and procedures.
- Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners' agents as needed; execute project assignments; interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; interact with all facets of the company (engineering, design, etc.).
- Verification of commissioning results in test reports; assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment; field experience with Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, data loggers, and related system testing equipment.
Qualifications
- 5 to 10+ years of experience in the Electrical / Mechanical Commissioning Field.
- Bachelor's / Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering a plus.
- A/E experience in complex facilities or mission critical projects; previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience is a must.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (heavy emphasis on writing, documentation, and client interaction).
- Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning.
- Experience managing commissioning teams and developing plans for large-scale commissioning projects.
- Experience with IEEE / ASHRAE procedures and protocols a plus.
- Basic knowledge of systems design for various projects; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches with Electrical / Mechanical experience is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees; Army - Power Generation; Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs; Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.).
- Open to 50% travel (not long periods of travel; many smaller trips to check on multiple projects); if based near a major Data Center build, travel closer to 10-20%.
- Must live near a major airport.
