We are looking for a dedicated Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our talented Mission Critical Data Center Team!

You can be based anywhere in the U.S., but you must be available to travel and be on-site in our Midwest region for variable amounts of time, depending on job requirements.

In this position, you will be critical in ensuring the seamless and reliable operation of a data center's electrical systems. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee the integrity and efficiency of the electrical systems within the data center. This position involves commissioning, testing, and verifying electrical infrastructure to ensure it meets industry standards and operational requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Electrical Commissioning: Lead commissioning activities for electrical systems, including switchgear, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), STSs, ATSs and associated equipment.
  • Testing and Verification: Develop, write, and execute commissioning plans (checklists, test scripts, equipment take-offs, load bank plans, etc.), conduct load bank tests, verify control systems, and ensure that electrical systems meet design specifications and performance requirements.
  • Quality Control: Identify, report, and rectify deviations from standards or project specifications, ensuring that electrical systems are built and operate to the highest quality standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of commissioning activities, test results, and discrepancies. Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory compliance.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that electrical systems adhere to relevant industry regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to coordinate commissioning activities, resolve issues, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and diagnose electrical system issues and collaborate with relevant teams to implement effective solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related military or previous field experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in data center electrical commissioning experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS, PDUs, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as NEC, IEEE, NETA, and NFPA.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical one-line drawings.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software, including Teams.
  • Familiar with Bluebeam Studio/Revu.
  • Experience with SharePoint.
  • Experience with file-sharing platforms.
  • OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certification (IPS will provide tools) must be maintained during employment.
  • Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screening test, 10 panel DOT approved, and background/security checks for on-site project access.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commissioning and System startup experience.
  • Experience with Procore software.

Context & Safety

  • Travel based on the project location.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work on an active construction site.
