Job Description:

Meade Engineering is seeking a Commissioning Engineer with experience in either electrical or mechanical systems to support commissioning efforts for mission-critical infrastructure projects, primarily in data center environments.

This role is responsible for validating the installation and operation of building systems such as power distribution, UPS, generators, ATS, switchgear, and/or HVAC systems, cooling units, CRACs, and mechanical plant equipment-depending on your background. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

This position can be based remotely, with preference given to candidates in Austin, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Atlanta, GA; Reno, NV; Grand Rapids, MI; or Las Vegas, NV.

Job Duties

• Develop and execute commissioning scripts, test plans, and standard procedures.
• Validate system installations and ensure mechanical or electrical equipment meets specifications and operational readiness.
• Perform onsite construction observations and functional testing.
• Conduct and document commissioning tests for a variety of building systems.
• Review and provide feedback on design documents and submittals.
• Collect and analyze performance data and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineering teams throughout the commissioning process.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Maintain detailed documentation and clear communication across stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience commissioning electrical or mechanical systems, data center and building management systems experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred. Associate degree, military training, or equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• Strong understanding of power distribution or HVAC systems depending on specialization.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical analysis skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite; Bluebeam or AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project needs.
• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NEC, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA) is a plus.
