Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support mission-critical data center projects across the United States. You will perform electrical commissioning activities, review drawings and specifications, and develop test procedures to ensure systems perform before occupancy.

This role involves travel to active project sites, hands-on startup, troubleshooting of MV/LV switchgear and UPS systems, and collaboration with owners, contractors, and design engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent commissioning experience.
• Experience with electrical commissioning, testing, startup, construction, or mission-critical facilities.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution and critical power systems.
• Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, ATS/STS, PDUs, protective devices, and electrical controls.
• Ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, electrical drawings, and specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical documentation skills.
• Comfortable working in active construction and energized electrical environments.
• Ability to travel based on project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical commissioning activities for data centers and other mission-critical facilities.
• Review electrical drawings, specifications, submittals, sequences of operation, and commissioning documentation.
• Develop and execute commissioning test procedures and functional performance testing.
• Commission and troubleshoot MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, ATS/STS equipment, PDUs, and related electrical distribution systems.
• Participate in equipment startup, energization, integrated systems testing, and turnover activities.
• Identify installation, controls, or performance issues and coordinate resolution with contractors and vendors.
• Document deficiencies, test results, and commissioning progress.
• Coordinate with owners, general contractors, electrical contractors, design engineers, controls teams, and equipment manufacturers.
• Support electrical safety, QA/QC, and project closeout requirements.
• Travel to active project sites as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent relevant commissioning or electrical field experience considered
• Experience with electrical commissioning, testing, startup, construction, or mission-critical facilities
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution and critical power systems
• Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, ATS/STS, PDUs, protective devices, and electrical controls
• Ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, electrical drawings, and specifications
• Strong troubleshooting and technical documentation skills
• Comfortable working in active construction and energized electrical environments
• Ability to travel based on project requirements

Preferred Experience

• Data center or mission-critical commissioning experience
• CxA, CxP, EIT, or PE credentials
• Familiarity with commissioning levels and L1-L5 testing
• Experience with integrated systems testing and failure-mode scenarios
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NETA standards
• Experience working directly with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center projects
