Job summary

Transmission & Distribution World is seeking an Electrical Capital Project Engineer for our Redwood, MS facility. You will manage capital projects across electrical disciplines, coordinating with operations, maintenance, vendors and engineers to meet safety and reliability goals.

The role requires strong project management, detailed design, and construction oversight, with an emphasis on electrical systems, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university. Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 7 years of experience, prefer 10+, in a variety of technical or operational assignments including all aspects of process development and execution in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have experience in managing projects from inception to start-up, including funding requests, engineering, procurement, construction and start-up/check out.
  • Experience in pulp and paper or manufacturing industry and exposure to construction services is essential.
  • Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and flexibility to lead projects outside core area of competence.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the project delivery process and help define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals, mill safety, reliability and improvement efforts.
  • Develop capital investment proposals and manage all detailed design and construction of approved capital projects with the objective of meeting technical, cost, reliability, and safety goals.
  • Apply technical know-how and analysis to understand complex designs and identify minimum effective design solution.
  • Coordinate the design of conceptual layouts and cost studies to develop the capital investment proposal efficiently.
  • Coordinate all process design activities including equipment sizing, PFDs and P&ID’s, loop sheets, E/I diagrams, control systems and operating manuals.
  • Review equipment and instrumentation specifications to ensure procurement and installation per standards and regulations.
  • Ensure project design and implementation abides by mill safety policies.
  • Coordinate and review vendor equipment, installation and other discipline drawings for operability input.
  • Liaise with mill operations, maintenance, management and stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage projects with outside consultants, contractors and mill personnel.
  • Assist in checkout and start-up activities, conduct post completion audits of all capital projects.
  • Plan, schedule and track project timelines, costs and milestones.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope and risks; devise contingency plans.
  • Schedule tracking of construction and project spending monthly or as needed.
  • Supervise project team members and contractors and drive accountability.
