Job summary

Micro Precision Ltd. in Grass Valley, CA is seeking a calibration technician to handle instrument calibration across Electrical, Industrial, and Temperature equipment. You will collect data, certify results, and communicate findings to customers and team members.

The role emphasizes safety, quality standards, and hands-on training, with travel to customer facilities up to 25% and a supportive lab environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license is required.
• Mechanical and dimensional equipment knowledge preferred.
• Experience with basic instrumentation and manual tools preferred.
• Basic mathematics understanding required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience using MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently or under supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate test instruments across multiple skill areas: Electrical Equipment, Industrial Equipment, Temperature Equipment.
• Perform standards maintenance and checking of company standards as assigned by Lab Manager.
• Collect calibration data and complete calibration certifications, including out of tolerance conditions.
• Share gained knowledge and best practices with other team members and continue training.
• Communicate calibration issues and procedures with customers and coworkers by phone, in person, and via email.
• Observe safety precautions and quality standards in tasks and comply with the company policies.
• Work in the local laboratory and at customer facilities, with up to 25% overnight travel.

Description

• Responsible for calibrating a variety of test instruments for one or more skill areas, such as:

1. Electrical Equipment
2. Industrial Equipment
3. Temperature Equipment

• Perform standards maintenance & checking of company standards if assigned by Lab Manager
• Collect calibration data and record information on data sheets. Complete calibration certifications, including out of tolerance conditions.
• Continue to be trained in all aspects of Micro Precision Calibration Services and share gained knowledge and other best practices with other team members
• Observe safety precautions and quality standards in the performance of tasks and compliy with the company
• Clearly communicate calibration issues and procedures with customers and coworkers on the phone, in person and through email

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• Basic Knowledge of Mechanical and Dimensional equipment preferred
• Experience in basic instrumentation and manual tools preferred
• Basic mathematics understanding
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in MS Word and Excel
• Ability to work both independently and under the supervision of Senior Technicians
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance

Training

We accept applicants new to the calibration industry who are eager to learn

Work Environment

• Work performed in the local laboratory and at customer facilities
• Up to 25% out of town, overnight travel
