Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking an Electrical Battery Engineer for Falcon & Dragon avionics hardware development. You will own battery assemblies across the product life cycle, design and validate packs, and collaborate on cell selection and system integration to ensure safety and reliability for flight.

The role covers development through production and launch, with opportunities to optimize processes, test hardware, and contribute to a high-performance aerospace team at SpaceX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1+ years of hardware design experience.
• 1+ years of experience with electrical test equipment (multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

• Own battery assemblies for flight across the product life cycle.
• Support battery management systems and pack designs from requirements to in-flight operation.
• Define manufacturing requirements, specifications, and validation from production cells to full scale packs.
• Collaborate with partner teams and programs on cell selection, pack configuration, and system integration.
• Drive changes to electrical schematics and mechanical drawings that improve reliability and manufacturability.
• Design test setups and execute hardware validation through benchtop, environmental testing, and abuse testing campaigns.
• Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues throughout assembly, test, and vehicle integration.
