PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Primarily responsible for installation and maintenance on process machinery. Troubleshoot electrical systems in an industrial setting. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Install, test, and maintain 3-phase electrical systems, motors, control panels, switches, floats, sensors, and VFDs.
- Install lighting in areas throughout the plant as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues in 3-phase systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic techniques.
- Read and interpret repair manuals, diagrams, and schematics for safe installation and repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and process machinery as needed.
- Accurately complete required documentation and records in a timely manner.
- Identify unsafe conditions through understanding of relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions; test and correct or report to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in electrical work preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Minimum 1 year experience working with 3-phase electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and motor controls.
- Knowledge of national electric code, operation, assembly, installation, and diagnosis of industrial instrumentation and control systems preferred.
- Proficient with hand and power tools, multimeters, megohmmeters, and other testing equipment.
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
- Sound work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work with a team.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, CVP Machines, process machinery, and automation systems development.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency practices or industrial automation.
- OSHA or other safety certifications.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently lift overhead.
- Work in an environment with strong, foul odors.
- Frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
