Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Electrical Assembler III to join our onsite production team. You will perform electrical assembly, soldering, wiring and inspection for aerospace products, contributing to high‑quality output in a fast‑paced environment.

You will read and apply assembly instructions, operate assembly machines, obtain J‑STD001 certification, and assist with process improvements while maintaining accurate records of work performed.

Qualifications

  • Requires HS diploma or GED with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • IPC‑610 certification is preferred.
  • Experience in electronics/electro‑mechanical assembly is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic electro‑mechanical assembly tasks for aerospace applications.
  • Assemble electronic units using proper techniques and verify with labels and color codes.
  • Solder electronic components and operate assembly machines.
  • Read and interpret work and process instructions and engineering standards.
  • Train others and maintain accurate records of work performed.

As an Electrical Assembler III, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including assembly, soldering, potting, wiring and inspection of products in both standard and non-standard environments. Your role is crucial in maintaining the flow of work and ensuring high-quality output.


What You Will Do


  • Perform a variety of basic manual or machine assembly tasks associated with electro‑mechanical builds (Printed Wiring Board or unit Assemblies) for a variety of aerospace applications.

  • Assemble a variety of electronic units using proper assembly techniques.

  • Identify correct parts, components, wires and other materials by part markings, color codes, container labels, etc.

  • Utilize a variety of hand tools (manual and power).

  • Obtain J‑STD001 certification.

  • Solder electronic components.

  • Operate assembly machines.

  • Measure, mix and apply a variety of chemicals and adhesives.

  • Perform measurements using basic measuring instruments.

  • Read and interpret assembly instructions, process instructions and engineering standards.

  • Utilize computer systems (e.g., work instructions, labor charging, and standards).

  • Process material requisitions in accordance with established procedures.

  • Check and verify per work instructions.

  • Recognize and take steps to resolve assembly/work‑area issues.

  • Perform material handling tasks.

  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.

  • Train other employees and perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications You Must Have


  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.


Qualifications We Prefer


  • IPC‑610 certification.

  • Proven experience in electronics/electro‑mechanical assembly.


Physical Demands


  • Transport product with or without product carts.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.

  • Sit or stand at workbench/machines/flow line for extended periods of time.

  • Bend, stoop, reach, and turn as required.

  • Use hands for extended periods of time to perform assembly (e.g., grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation).

  • Utilize magnification devices for extended periods of time to perform verification, assembly & soldering; distinguish colors and meet vision requirements.


Work Environment Characteristics


  • Work with manual/lower‑power tools.

  • Work with products of various weights and sizes.

  • Work with high air pressure and medium to high temperature equipment/materials.

  • Work with equipment with moving parts, chemicals, and adhesives that may emit fumes.
