Job summary

Hennig is seeking an Electrical Assembler II in Illinois to perform advanced electrical assembly, conduit installation, wiring, and panel terminations. You will interpret engineering drawings and ensure production requirements are met.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, installing conduit, crimping lugs, routing wires, and assembling control boxes to company standards. You will use measuring tools and safety practices while working at heights on enclosures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for mechanical assembly tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings in English.
• Experience in basic electrical assembly and component wiring is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
• Install 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch EMT conduit with correct spacing and alignment.
• Crimp lugs and ferrules per quality standards and procedures.
• Pull and route wires through wireways and paths for devices.
• Install cable protection around edges and abrasion points as needed.
• Assemble and wire control boxes per schematics and standards.
• Terminate and label wires in control panels per requirements.
• Work with two-way, three-way, and four-way switching circuits.
• Fabricate and terminate DLO cable and 500 MCM wire assemblies.
• Operate power tools and measuring devices; use levels for alignment.
• Work safely at heights using scissor/boom lifts and ladders.

Job description

The Electrical Assembler II is designed for individuals who have mastered foundational assembly skills and are ready for more advanced electrical work. This position independently performs conduit installation, component wiring, cable preparation, and electrical assembly tasks while interpreting engineering drawings and meeting production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
• Demonstrates proficiency in accurately measuring, cutting, bending, and installing 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch EMT conduit for enclosure assemblies, maintaining proper spacing, alignment, and workmanship standards.
• Demonstrates proficiency in crimping compression lugs and ferrules in accordance with company quality and workmanship standards.
• Assists with pulling and routing wires for electrical devices through wireways and other designated pathways.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the installation of cable and wire protection materials around sharp edges, corners, and other potential abrasion points, and understands when and where such protection is required.
• Successfully assembles and wires control boxes according to electrical schematics, drawings, and company standards.
• Strips, terminates, and properly labels wires within control panels in accordance with Hennig standards, assembly procedures, and quality requirements.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the operation and application of two-way, three-way, and four-way electrical switching circuits.
• Demonstrates proficiency in fabricating and terminating DLO cable and 500 MCM wire assemblies.
• Operate power/hand tools, measuring devices, and instruments used for assembly.
• Accurately use measuring and leveling tools, including tape measures and levels, for conduit and component installation.
• Demonstrate safe operation and proper use of scissor lifts, boom lifts, and ladders.
• Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions during assembly and installation activities.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required
• Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills

• Demonstrate proficiency in basic mechanical and measurement skills for assembly tasks, including conduit installation, wiring (AC/DC, 480V, 240V), wire termination, and labeling.
• Accurately interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and written assembly instructions.
• Perform mechanical equipment troubleshooting according to inspection procedures.
• Maintain high-quality output and on-time delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail.
• Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.

Physical Demands

This position differs from a typical assembly line role. Employees do not remain in one location throughout the shift. The assembly process requires working inside, around, and on top of large enclosures, including the use of scissor lifts and performing work at heights of 16-18 feet. Applicants should be comfortable working in elevated positions and in a physically active manufacturing environment.
