Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is seeking an Electrical Assembler in Muncie, Indiana. You will install components, cables, and wiring into electrical compartments, performing wiring, cabling, and mechanical assembly in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and engineering change notices.

This is a full-time second-shift role 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM with overtime. Starting pay is $20.00 per hour ($19 base + $1 shift differential).

Qualifications

• At least one year of manufacturing experience, preferably in heavy industrial settings.
• Ability to read a tape measure and interpret blueprints and wiring schematics.
• Experience using various hand tools and basic data entry.
• Willingness to learn new skills; forklift or crane experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mount large components into electrical compartments.
• Route wiring and cabling to connect components.
• Manage cable routing and termination throughout the system.
• Resolve quality non-conformances identified by inspection.
• Follow process guidelines and quality gate docs.
• Verify gauges are calibrated.
• Ensure fasteners meet torque specs.
• Keep workspace tidy to improve efficiency.
• Perform advanced assembly tasks as required.
• Install wire harnesses and wires into panels.
• Assemble plugs and terminate wiring per plug charts.
• Create wire harnesses by applying cables to drawings.
• Mentor and train other team members.
