Job summary

American Rheinmetall is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to support installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in our manufacturing facility. You will work under licensed electricians, learning to read schematics, interpret drawings, and perform safe, guided tasks on motors, panels, and automation equipment.

You will follow OSHA and NFPA guidelines, participate in continuous improvement, and contribute to reliable plant operations while developing technical skills and practical

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or willingness to start an electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Previous experience in mechanical/maintenance/industrial setting preferred but not required.

  • Support troubleshooting on motors, control panels, drives, PLCs, and automation to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on electrical components.

Job Summary

The Electrical Apprentice supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and industrial equipment under the guidance of licensed electricians. This role assists with troubleshooting electrical issues, performing basic preventative maintenance, and learning to work safely with wiring, control panels, motors, and industrial machinery. The Electrical Apprentice follows electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies while developing technical skills and contributing to smooth and efficient plant operations.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and industrial equipment throughout the facility under supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts on motors, control panels, drives, PLCs, and automation systems to help minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on electrical components.
  • Observe mechanical and electrical devices in operation and report unusual sounds or behaviors to identify potential issues.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Safely assist with wiring, breakers, conduit, and electrical equipment in accordance with electrical codes and company safety practices.
  • Help dismantle devices to access defective parts and assist with repairs and replacement tasks as directed.
  • Aid in adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments under guidance.
  • Assist in testing devices and equipment performance following repairs or adjustments.
  • Learn the technical aspects of electrical and mechanical drawings to support maintenance activities.
  • Help prepare replacement parts lists and support inventory requests for components and equipment.
  • Collaborate with electricians, production, maintenance, and engineering teams to support equipment improvements.
  • Use testing devices to help identify hazards, defects, or necessary repairs as instructed.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and updates following company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA, and facility safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical techniques, tools, equipment, and materials, with willingness to learn.
  • Ability to complete assigned work accurately, efficiently, and within required timeframes.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality, consistently meeting productivity and training expectations.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and follow instructions to resolve routine problems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with a cooperative, professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated initiative to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities with supervision.
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures, security requirements, and proper PPE use.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions effectively.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrollment in or willingness to start an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
  • Previous experience in a mechanical, maintenance, or industrial setting preferred but not required
Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and crouch while performing electrical work throughout the facility.
  • Lift, carry, and move equipment and materials typically up to 50 pounds.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and testing devices requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
  • Work in various plant environments, including elevated areas, confined spaces, and around machinery.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and read detailed schematics, labels, and safety signage.
  • Tolerate exposure to noise, heat, cold, dust, and other industrial conditions as required.
  • Maintain balance, coordination, and physical stamina to safely perform tasks for extended periods.
