Job summary

T5 Data Centers in Columbus, Ohio seeks an Electrical Apprentice to assist in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing data‑center electrical equipment.

You will perform lighting and battery PMs, rack deployments and decommissioning, inverter testing, receptacle panel work, and support MTS board installation and timing. The role requires at least one year in the trade and formal vocational training, with physical ability to lift and work in varied environments.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in the trade.
• Formal training in approved vocational schools in the fundamentals of the trade.

Responsibilities

• Perform lighting PMs and battery PMs.
• Execute rack moves, deployments, and decommissioning.
• Repair security gates and test inverters on battery backups for lights.
• Assist with team scheduling and material requisition.
• Install and retrofit receptacle panels and support MTS board work.
• Create and maintain electrical panel schedules and safety checks.
• Assist with spill prevention and heat trace testing and installations.
• Support miscellaneous electrical project work and high-priority tasks.

Electrical Apprentice

The Electrical Apprentice will be responsible for performing apprentice-level electrical duties in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lighting PMs
• Battery PMs
• Rack moves, deployments, and decommissioning
• Security gate repair
• Inverter testing on battery backups for lights
• Team scheduling and material requisition
• Receptacle panel installations and retrofits
• MTS board validations, actuation, and installation
• Electrical panel schedules
• Spill prevention kits for generators, substations, etc.
• Heat trace annual testing and installation/retrofits
• Electrical project support
• Nonscheduled, high priority work; usually DC floor related issues related to cooling

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in the trade
• Formal training in approved vocational schools in the fundamentals of the trade

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl using both arms and legs
• Ability to pick up a minimum of 60 lbs.
• Ability to reach with both hands and arms
• Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects
• Ability to smell, talk and hear
• Ability to use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel, and type
• Ability to see at close and distance ranges and to correctly distinguish color
