Job description

We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer – High Voltage (HV) to support our expanding business in North America.

This role is primarily focused on pre-sales technical support and application engineering, supporting project pursuits for high voltage power equipment, including power transformers and dead tank circuit breakers (DTCB).

The position plays a critical role in bridging customers, sales teams, and HQ engineering/commercial teams, ensuring that customer technical requirements are clearly understood, accurately translated, and effectively incorporated into competitive project solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-sales Technical Support & Quotation Support (Core Responsibility)

• Provide technical support during the pre-sales and bidding phase, working closely with sales teams on project opportunities
• Review RFQs, bid documents, and technical specifications to support quotation development and commercial alignment with HQ teams
• Coordinate with HQ commercial and engineering teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing and technical solutions
• Prepare technical proposals, deviation lists, and supporting documentation for customer submissions

Technical Requirement Interpretation & Translation

• Analyze and interpret customer technical specifications and project requirements
• Translate customer needs into clear and structured technical inputs for HQ engineering and product teams
• Ensure alignment between customer requirements and product capabilities, identifying gaps and proposing solutions

Customer Technical Engagement (Pre-sales)

• Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions, and clarification sessions
• Provide timely and professional responses to technical inquiries during the bidding phase
• Support sales teams in building customer confidence through strong technical communication

Product & Application Engineering (Transformers & DTCB)

• Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of high voltage transformers and DTCB applications
• Support application engineering activities related to power systems, substations, and transmission projects
• Apply technical expertise to ensure solutions are practical, compliant, and aligned with project requirements

Standards & Compliance Alignment

• Interpret and apply relevant North American standards, including IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CSA, and UL
• Ensure proposed solutions meet local compliance and application requirements
• Act as a key interface between North America and HQ teams
• Communicate local market requirements, customer feedback, and project insights to Product Management and R&D
• Support product localization and continuous improvement initiatives

Technical Training & Sales Enablement

• Provide technical training and guidance to internal sales teams
• Support development of technical materials to enhance sales effectiveness and product understanding

Market & Application Insight

• Build understanding of key application segments such as data centers, utilities, renewable energy, and industrial projects
• Provide input to improve solution competitiveness and product positioning

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5–10 years of experience in high voltage power equipment (transformers and/or circuit breakers preferred)
• Experience in pre-sales technical support, application engineering, or bid support roles

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of HV transformers and DTCB applications
• Solid understanding of power systems, protection, and system integration
• Familiarity with IEEE standards and general North American compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting technical bidding / RFQ processes
• Background in data centers, utilities, or large infrastructure projects
• Experience working with cross-regional engineering teams (HQ collaboration)
