Job summary

NEXHR is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Technician at our ASU site near Charleston, South Carolina. The role focuses on maintaining MV/LV electrical systems, upgrading control systems, and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with HMI/PLC/SCADA, instrument calibration, and data acquisition, with familiarity in FactoryTalk, DeltaV or Wonderware. A strong team player with quality and regulatory collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Instrumentation Technician or related role in continuous process plants.
• Familiar with instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Experience with FactoryTalk, DeltaV or similar systems.
• Strong ability to calibrate and test process instruments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, upkeep, and diagnostics of MV/LV electrical systems. Ensure switchgear operates safely and efficiently.
• Lead lifecycle management of plant control systems, including new and upgraded HMI and control systems.
• Oversee and troubleshoot HMI/PLC/SCADA systems and integration with plant operations; guide mechanical maintenance.
• Conduct testing and calibration for key process instruments including analyzers, flow totalizers, transmitters, and motor protection relays.
• Ensure precise data acquisition for production rates, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage instrumentation and equipment measuring production rates, quality, on‑stream performance, and environmental KPIs.
• Work with quality and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to standards.

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (I&E Technician) at our ASU site near Charleston, South Carolina. The I&E Technician will work closely with the Plant Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure reliable operations, efficiency, and safety compliance.

• Oversee the maintenance, upkeep, and diagnostics of MV/LV electrical systems. Ensure the electrical switchgear operates efficiently and meets safety standards.
• Lead lifecycle management of plant control systems, including new and upgraded HMI and control systems.
• Oversee and troubleshoot HMI/PLC and SCADA systems to ensure they are functioning properly and integrating smoothly with plant operations and provide guidance on mechanical system maintenance.
• Conduct testing and calibration for key process instruments including analyzers, flow totalizers, transmitters, motor protection relays, and associated controls.
• Ensure precise data acquisition for key process parameters related to production rates, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage instrumentation and equipment that measure production rates, product quality parameters, on-stream performance, and environmental KPIs.
• Work in close collaboration with quality and regulatory compliance teams to ensure adherence to all applicable standards.

Experience required:

• High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s degree or technical school certification is preferred.
• Experience as an Instrumentation Technician, Electrical Engineer, or Control System Specialist, ideally within a continuous process plant or the industrial gas industry.
• Experience with both mechanical and electrical instrumentation.
• Familiar with the various software systems commonly used in an industrial setting (e.g., FactoryTalk, DeltaV, Wonderware, etc.)

Good to have:

• Experience in the operation and maintenance of cryogenic air separation plants and associated equipment and technologies, with a strong understanding of the processes involved.
• Experience training team members in plant maintenance and calibration, quality control procedures, and the proper techniques for instrument calibration and maintenance.
• Familiarity with water treatment technologies and the principles of industrial refrigeration systems
