Job summary

Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) is seeking an Electric System Operations Apprentice to support 24/7 outage restoration coordination under supervision of a System Operator. You will issue switching orders, monitor OMS/SCADA, and help maintain system reliability while gaining training toward a first-year System Operator Certification.

Role requires strong attention to safety, ability to work rotating shifts, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 6+ months of related experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and Related Insurance.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
• Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for adherence to a rotating shift.
• Complete Northwest lineman college Year 1 System Operator Certification Program course of study within first year of employment and continue work to achieve Coarse completion.

Responsibilities

• Assist real-time control system integrity to ensure operational reliability.
• Provide direction of restoration activities during assigned shift.
• Gain training to serve as switching authority as assigned by the Manager of Distribution System Operations.
• Adhere to cooperative policies, operating instructions, and procedures.
• Prepare accurate switching and tagging instructions for operations.
• Respond to system operation failures or abnormalities and assign Service Orders.
