Job summary

DZYNE Technologies is seeking an experienced Electric Propulsion Engineer to support design, integration, and optimization of propulsion systems for Group 1–2 electric aircraft based in Irvine, CA. This role focuses on selecting and tuning ducted fans, motors, and battery systems to meet performance targets.

You will conduct system-level analyses, develop test plans, and work closely with aerodynamics, airframe, avionics, and systems engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of direct electric propulsion experience in aerospace or UAVs.
• Hands-on work selecting and tuning propulsion components.
• Knowledge of propulsion performance metrics and thermal behavior.
• Experience with propulsion modeling tools and data capture instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead selection, sizing, and integration of electric propulsion components.
• Perform system-level trade studies to balance thrust and endurance.
• Calibrate and optimize motors and ESCs under varying flight profiles.
• Develop propulsion test plans for bench, ground, and flight testing.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, airframe, and avionics teams for integration.
• Create technical documentation and validation reports.
• Contribute to failure mode analysis and risk mitigation.
