Job summary

Archer in San Jose, CA is looking for a motivated intern to join the Electric Propulsion team for a 10-week summer program. You will help design, model, test, and validate propulsion units, bridging digital design and hardware to meet weight and safety targets.

The role requires CAD expertise (NX/SolidWorks/CATIA), data handling with Python/MATLAB/Excel, and hands-on prototyping with 3D printing or machining. Strong communication and curiosity are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Mechatronics (entering 2nd or 3rd year).
• Strong CAD skills with Siemens NX, SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Fundamental drawing GD&T knowledge and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical components for electric motors and gearboxes.
• Create 2D drawings and assembly instructions with GD&T.
• Develop test stands and source parts for propulsion sub-systems.
• Assist in testing, sensor installation, data collection, and safety monitoring.
• Post-process data and write technical reports with results and recommendations.
• Support prototyping and assembly of propulsion units with technicians.
• Collaborate with thermal, magnetic, and manufacturing teams.
