Job summary

Hooper Corporation, a Wisconsin-based electric power and mechanical contractor, seeks an Estimator to prepare bids on Electric Power projects and maintain estimating systems. The role covers detailed take-offs, pricing, and bid strategy, with site visits as needed and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities include updating pricing, managing bid databases, and supporting project teams on T&D powerlines and substations.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years technical education in engineering or construction management.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong communication.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook and CAD/BIM drawings.
• Comfortable budgeting and estimating 120–200 projects per year.

Responsibilities

• Develop bid schedules with Department Head and procure project plans.
• Prepare project estimates via detailed plan take-offs and pricing.
• Update material and labor pricing regularly.
• Maintain estimating software and databases for bids.
• Price changes for large projects and track bid results.
• Evaluate completed costs against budgets for future estimates.
• Develop estimating rules of thumb and criteria.
• Attend departmental meetings and assist department head.
