Become a Key Player as an Electric Motor Design Engineer
You will lead electromagnetic design efforts for AC and DC motor products, driving design-for-manufacturability and project execution that meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. You will work onsite with cross-functional engineering teams, vendors, and customers to deliver new and improved motor and gear solutions. Your work directly impacts product verification, manufacturing readiness, and customer program success.
Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact on the Team
- Define project goals, specifications, schedules, and resource plans for motor and gear design projects
- Lead detailed electromagnetic and mechanical design activities, including layouts, schematics, and CAD models
- Develop and verify product performance through analysis, simulation, and testing plans
- Integrate gear design and manufacturing requirements to optimize designs for production and assembly
- Prepare and maintain engineering project documentation, history files, and status reports/milestones
- Coordinate with tooling vendors to develop fixtures and tooling for new products
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to design and process engineering initiatives
- Mentor and train less-experienced engineers; provide technical leadership on program teams
Here’s What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical discipline
- Typically 10 or more years of related engineering experience
- Extensive experience in gear design and manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles
- Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and manage schedules, costs, and technical risks
- Experience with solid-model CAD; familiarity with FEA and simulation tools is preferred
- Ability to design verification plans and interpret test and analysis results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting to management and customers
Here’s What Else Might Help You Out
- Experience with specialized simulation or analysis software relevant to electromagnetic motor design
- Prior experience working on cross-functional aerospace or industrial product programs
