Xcel Energy is hiring a Groundman 1st Year at the Alamosa Service Center in Alamosa, Colorado. You will support distribution line work, including setting/removing poles, installing conductors, and rigging with cranes and other equipment. Travel to other Colorado territories may be required.

As a Groundman you will have the opportunity to utilize your skills to work on electric distribution line circuits including setting and removing poles and towers and installing and removing conductor.Responsibilities:Installing and removing overhead and underground conductorsRigging of all varieties for use with crane applicationsDriving and operation of numerous commercial vehiclesHelicopter uses with constructionUsing specialized equipment like ATV's and SNOW CAT'sOther duties as assignedCompetencies:Accustomed to many varieties of specialized line construction equipment and vehiclesComputer Skills for learning and compliance trainingKnowledge of hand and power tools and the safety of their useUnderstanding how to work with ropes/knots and how to use themUnderstanding and familiarity of DOT regulations*Please note that this position will require some out of town travel to different Xcel Energy Colorado territories.Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or GEDWork experience operating construction equipmentPossess class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Must have passed or successfully pass the EEI Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) selection test.High Commitment to Safety Good communication skills (both written and verbal)Must be in excellent physical condition and be able to handle a 90 lb jackhammerHighly developed mechanical abilityMust be able to respond to afterhours call out, both weekends and eveningsMust live within 40 miles or 40 minutes of the Alamosa Service Center EEI Testing:1.
